As a mom of four–I’m surrounded by chaos. To quiet the storm, I love to settle in to a great book. Here’s a quick hitting list of books I’m reading right now in case you’re searching for new material.

First, as a mom with a long commute, I always have an audiobook going. Right now that book is Rodham by Curtis Sittenfeld.
My bedtime book, currently on my nightstand is The Jane Austen Society by Natalie Jenner, a cozy, nostalgic novel.
The first of four books I’m reading right now with my kids is Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. My 3rd grade daughter and I are enjoying this fantastic novel together. I cherish these sweet snuggled moments with my youngest, while reading a childhood classic.
My second read aloud currently is T.J. Klune’s The House in the Cerulean Sea. Oh. My. Gosh. I’m reading this one for the second time, and this tie sharing with my 5th grader. The characters are heartwarming and it is one of my all time favorite reads.
My eldest, a freshman in highschool, and I are engrossed in Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy. Erie and suspenseful, this is a very atmospheric, near-future, dystopian read.
Finally, The Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket-this is what 6th grade son and I are reading together. Nothing seems to ever go right for the characters in these books, but he really enjoys the suspense and the storytelling.
This is a list of the books keeping me company this October 2025 — a mix of youth and adult novels that remind me how books can bring us closer. Reading together (or even just side-by-side) is one of those quiet ways to build connection — the same kind of connection I love capturing in photographs.
If you’re looking for inspiration for your next read, maybe this list will give you a few ideas. And if you have any favorite read-alouds or books that spark meaningful moments with your kids, I’d love to hear them! Drop your recommendations in the comments — or check out my portfolio page and see how I tell stories through images, too.
After all, every good story — whether on the page or in a photograph — is about connection.
